Rani Mukerji had revealed that late Yash Chopra had locked her parents in a room till she said yes to ‘Saathiya’
Actress Rani Mukerji is gearing up for the release of her upcoming film ‘Bunty Aur Babli 2’ with Saif Ali Khan. The Varun V Sharma directorial is a sequel of Rani and Abhishek Bachchan’s 2005 blockbuster ‘Bunty Aur Babli.’ The Kuch Kuch Hota Hai actress is currently on a promotional spree for the film. Rani is also known for pouring out her heart and sharing funny anecdotes from her early life. As we speak of this, she had once revealed why Yash Chopra had locked her parents in a room.
In a throwback interview, Rani Mukerji had revealed that she initially refused to do ‘Saathiya’ and Yash Chopra had threatened to lock up her parents in a room until she agreed to do the movie. The actress mentioned that after ‘Mujhse Dosti Karoge’, she had no work for about eight months. She also said that at that time a lot of film critics and magazines had said that her career was over but she was okay with that. Rani wanted to take up something that her heart believed in.
While elaborating further, the Hum Tum actress shared that Yash Chopra had called her parents to the office. Her mother and father had actually gone to inform the filmmaker that Rani is not interested in doing this film. However, Yash then called up Rani and told her that she is making a very big mistake. The late director also locked the door of his room and said he won’t let Rani’s parents out till she said yes to the film.
'Saathiya' starred Vivek Oberoi and Rani Mukerji in lead roles. Shah Rukh Khan and Tabu appeared in extended special appearances.
Meanwhile, ‘Bunty Aur Babli 2’ also features Siddhant Chaturvedi and Sharvari Wagh in key roles. The film will hit the theatres on November 19. Besides this, Rani also has ‘Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway’ in the pipeline.
